A letter from the Trustees

December 12, 2024

Dear friends,

“Friends,” what do you call people unknown to you, and whose generosity has blessed you, your family, and other people you know and love? I am writing to you, the supporters of Cliff and Katie and their new gospel work in Princeton, as a bit of an “update from the trenches.”

My name is Daniel; I am originally from Lincoln Nebraska and have come to Princeton by way of Chicago, London, and southern California. I am married to Carrie (23 years and counting) and am the father of three boys: Caleb (18), Micah (15) and Josiah (11). We moved to Princeton 19 years ago to help launch a classical Christian school. But this is not a letter about the school! I am writing to you, because our family now feels called to help launch a new gospel work, the formation of the Princeton Anglican Church.

It was just over a year ago that I learned a man named Clifford Swartz was praying with his wife Katie about planting an ACNA church in Princeton. I had a zoom call with Cliff soon after and we began praying about this new work and thinking through many of the practical matters that one considers when starting a new church. 1) What would a biblically faithful, gospel focused, liturgical church deeply rooted in the Reformed Anglican tradition look like? We have worshipped in enough ACNA churches to know it is a big tent! 2) Does Princeton need such a church? Emphatically yes! 3) How could this new church be a blessing to the greater Kingdom? 4) Where would we meet? Etc.

One year later, Cliff and Katie have been on the ground since summer, we have gathered six families and some young adults who are faithfully attending worship, along with a few other families and young adults who are “circling.”  Some Princeton graduate and undergraduate students have begun to find us, along with some faculty. We typically have 30-40 people during worship and have already outgrown the homes we are meeting in. We have officially constituted the church and established trustees to aid Cliff in the administration of the church and provide governance and oversight. We are excited about the future plans to develop the congregation, install permanent leadership, and work with others to advance the cause of Christ.

The intent of this note is not to repeat the needs of the church. Rather, it is to simply let you know that your friends, and now our friends, have been faithful in this new work. Cliff is gathering a flock in Princeton that is faithful to the Gospel. Word and sacrament ministry is already happening and blessing the visible church in Princeton.

If you ever have questions about what is happening in Princeton or simply want to get to know us better so that we might labor for the gospel together in greater friendship, we would love to meet.

For His Glory,

Daniel Brox
